Purple - p:4 4: a severely downhill left to right dogleg (running parallel to the autopista on the right) to a raised, bunkered green, that has clearly been set up to be driveable from the tee by big boys - a high risk shot. Slicers should look left, right and left again first, to ensure their ball doesn't get run over... Good fun.

Text Box: A three-dimensional panoramic layout, remarkable not least because you would not expect such a hilly piece of land (which our forefathers would not in their wildest dreams have considered suitable for golf) to render fairways on planes so relatively reasonable. The designer is to be congratulated also for balancing the motorway and dense housing development environment with character (if not humour), especially at the generally undulating greensites. Whether it will sell is another matter. Visually appealing bunkering. The two loops of 9 include some water and forced carries. Buggy (included in green fee) essential – record-breaking climbs from 17th green to 18th tee and from 18th green to the 19th.

Calanova's p:4 11, seen here with dormant winter Bermuda grass, is generous off the tee, but requires precision in your approach to the multi-tiered green.

This view of short p:3 4 from in front of the green shows the quality of both bunkering and setting.
